Memories

Thursday, July 17, 2014

The other day my hubby surprised me and brought me back his grandpa's old Marsand camera bag. It was filled with all sorts of treasures. As we sat there and went through the bag, I thought about the places, people, and memories the camera would have gotten to see. Then it made me think of the things that my camera has seen. I have been so lucky to have travelled to the places I’ve been, to meet new people and spend time with familiar faces, and for all of the countless memories in between.

Feeling thankful today.

Taking a Break

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Hello! Great news, I finally have my dream camera in my possession. Every time I look at it I feel so lucky and blessed to own something that beautiful, seriously. Don’t even get me started on the sound of the shutter when you take a picture! It makes me think about the very first digital camera my sister and I saved up for when we were young and all of the cameras in between. The Mark III is a big jump from my little Rebel and I can’t wait to get practicing. I’m going to get to view many great memories through this camera.

As Lent has rolled around once more, I have decided to give up all social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Blogging) as I find myself constantly glued to the computer or my phone. The time away forces a person to break the habit of grabbing your phone and checking what’s going on in the world of social media. Although all of them serve great purposes – finding inspiration, sharing your creative work, staying in touch with friends, etc. – I think it’s very important to decide to pick up a book instead of picking up your phone, sounds easy right? Not so much! And I hate that. Luckily 40 days is just the right amount of time to learn how to step back and enjoy life as it’s happening and to also appreciate social media without abusing it.

I have lots of upcoming sessions between now and Easter that I’m sure I’ll be itching to share with all of you when I get back (hellooooo babies and bellies). Until then, be sure to email me if you have any questions.

Phew, what a rant. Thanks for reading, friends. Take care!

Sincerely, Hope

Christmas Time

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

What a wonderful time of year! This past month has been very busy with baking, wrapping, decorating, shopping, twinkle tours, etc. I was pleasantly happy with everything that I was able to get done on the Christmas bucket list.

I was looking back at all of my photography clients from 2013 this morning and seriously can't wait for the exciting events to come in 2014.

See you in the new year. Merry Christmas my friends!

Music

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Winter has arrived. This past Sunday it snowed all day . . . we got a lot of it! Mother Nature didn't allow us to slowly get used to the new season - then again I can't say I'm surprised. It usually happens this way every year and we continue to complain regardless.

As I sit on the couch next to my hubby cuddled up in a blanket editing some photographs, we have our favorite playlist softly playing in the background. Editing is half as less fun when you don't listen to music. Check out some of my favourite bands and songs, I find all of this music very peaceful and inspiring.
